On May 23, Park Eungsuk, Dean of the International Exchange College of Yonsei University in South Korea, led a delegation visited Xi’an Medical University. Gong Shouping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President, met with the guests, Vice President Li Xueping presided over the meeting.

Gong Shouping extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and briefly introduced the University. He said China and South Korea are neighbors separated only by a strip of water, and there have been culture exchanges through the ages. Cooperative relationship has been established between the two universities during the COVID-19 period. We carried out active mutual visits and conducted in-depth exchanges, which implemented the concept of focusing on cooperation and enhancing mutual trust, and was a response to the proposal of the two foreign ministers that moving in the same direction and jointly promoting the healthy, stable and sustainable development of China-South Korea relations. Yonsei University is one of the top three universities in South Korea, and its medical education is the best in the country. It is hoped that we can make deep discussion on Sino-foreign cooperative education of Rehabilitation Therapy, Medical Imaging, Stomatology and other majors under the framework of our memorandum of cooperation, in an effort to promote cooperation to a new level, cultivate high-quality medical and healthcare personnel, benefit the people and promote the friendship between the two countries.

Park Eungsuk said that Yonsei University is the best private university in South Korea, and Wonju City, where the university's Medical College locates, is a medical city built up by the South Korean government. The strength of the university and its excellent affiliated hospitals can ensure their medical education and serving their people. Taking Xi'an Medical University as his first visit after taking office shows his expectation and confidence in the cooperation between the two universities, and he hopes to develop a long-term, stable and healthy partnership.

Discussion

During the discussion, the Yonsei University delegation introduced the Wonju campus and the personnel training model of the International Exchange College. The two sides then conducted in-depth discussions on international personnel training and Sino-foreign cooperative education.
