From April 7^thto 11^th, a delegation of 5 people led by Koen Van Den Bossche, Director of the Nursing and Public Health Department, Thomas More University of Applied Sciences, Belgium, visited Xi’an Medical University. Other members are teachers An Rossau, Leentje Lauwers and two students. Gong Shouping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice President Li Xueping, met with the guests.

The two sides held a meeting on the morning of April 9^th. Gong Shouping extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and briefly introduced the University’s strengths, features, personnel training and international cooperation. He put forward the model and vision of future cooperation between the two universities. He said that General Secretary Xi Jinping called for building a bridge of friendship and cooperation across the Eurasia to promote communication, understanding and friendship when visited Belgium in 2014. The year of 2024 is the tenth anniversary of establishing comprehensive and friendly partnership between China and Belgium. We are willing to set up bridges to promote the “Bringing in and going out” of teachers, students, and medical staff, cultivate more excellent medical and healthcare personnel, thus to benefit the people of Shaanxi Province and Antwerp, and enhance the friendship between the two provinces and countries. On January 9^ththis year, the Shaanxi Provincial Institute of Rural Medicine was established. The two parties can make cooperation and exchanges on rural medicine through this platform, and promote the vigorous development of grassroots medicine and healthcare between the two countries. In the context of “New Medicine”, the two sides can carry out deep cooperation and exploration in the interdisciplinary integration and practice of medicine and engineering, science, informatics, and humanities. The two sides can open a new chapter of profound cooperation based on projects cooperation, academic discussions, personnel visits and exchanges.

Director Koen responded positively to the above proposal. He said that this is their third visit to Xi’an Medical University. Both sides have a consensus in the fields of personnel training and student exchange, and formed deep friendship. They are full of confidence in the in-depth cooperation, and expect the two universities to make good use of their strength, complement each other's advantages, and further strengthen personnel exchanges and in-depth interaction of personnel training and faculty research cooperation.

The delegation also visited the Nursing and Rehabilitation College, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Medical University, and Xi'an TCM Hospital of Encephalopathy.
