Schoolof Pharmacy in Xi’an Medical University currently has 91 faculty members and 1,650 students. It offers three undergraduate majors: Pharmacy, Traditional Chinese Medicine,and Marketing, has 16 teaching management bodies,including Office of Party and Government Affairs, Office of Teaching Affairs, Office of Student Affairs,Youth League, Office of University-enterprise Cooperation ,Teaching and Research Office of Pharmaceutics,Pharmaceutical Analysis,Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Natural Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacognostics,Parmacology of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Drug Management and Administration,Chemistry, and Experimental Center of Pharmacy,Analytical Testing,Chemistry.

School of Pharmacy makes full use of more than 60 years of pharmaceutical personnel training experience andalways adheres to the cultivation of students which form a“training mode of application-oriented talents” featuring“the integration of theory and practice”,“School-enterprises resource sharing” and the“Integration of industry, education, research, internship and employment”.Over the years,it has been adhering to academic cooperation and communication with Tasly Group,Guangyuyuan National Pharmaceutical Co., LTD and other well-known enterprises at home and abroad, and has selected backbone teachers to visit famous universities in Europe and the United States. The School is a pilot site for the construction of first-class pharmaceutical major in Shaanxi, an innovation experimental site for cultivating application-oriented pharmaceutical talents, the undergraduate experimental teaching demonstration center of Shaanxi province, a pilot site for Shaanxi pharmaceutical professional comprehensive reform. In addition, it has a number of provincial education and teaching quality projects in pharmacy discipline supported and funded by Shaanxi Province. It is the first pilot school of creative education reform at XMU. Students won the special prize and the second prize in the "6th National Pharmacy/Traditional Chinese Medicine Majors Experimental Skills Competition among Medical Universities ". Awarded the second prize and the third prize in the provincial "Students’ Chemical Experimental Skills Invitational Competition". 11 state-level innovation and entrepreneurship projects, 32 provincial-level innovation and entrepreneurship projects, and 34 university-level innovation and entrepreneurship projects have been approved.

Institute of pharmacology, a university-level institution inside the School,has four key research directions, including Nano drug carrier research, drug evaluation and research, new drug preparation research, natural medicine research and development. Besides, the School has 2 Provincial Level II laboratories,a number of teaching and research sharing platforms, the open service experimental teaching environment and modern efficient operation of the management mechanism, which can meet the requirements of theoretical teaching, scientific research and practical ability training for undergraduate and graduate students. In recent years, 8 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and more than 70 research projects of provincial departments and bureaus have been approved. In addition, more than 500 scientific research papers have been published (71 of which have been cited by SCI, EI, ISTP, Medline and more than 300 were core papers). The School holds a number of awards:1 second prize of Science and Technology Award of Shaanxi Province, 2 third prizes of Science and Technology of Xi 'an City, Shaanxi Province, 1 third prize of the 13th Excellent Academic Paper of Natural Science of Shaanxi Province, 2 silver prizes for Invention and Creation in the Second Science and Technology Festival of Shaanxi Province, 3 second prizes of Science and Technology Awards of Shaanxi Colleges and Universities, 3 silver prizes and 3 bronze prizes in Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Science and Technology Workers in Shaanxi Province. 21 national invention patents and 12 utility model patents have been authorized, among which 5 have been commercialized. 8 hospital preparations and more than 10 functional products of natural products have been developed by the School.

School of Pharmacy promotes teaching through moral education in and out of classroom and by“putting students first”, which have enhanced the comprehensive quality of students. At present, it has trained 10 sessions undergraduate students. In recent years, the enrollment rate of postgraduate students is above 50%. Some of the graduates have been admitted to the Southern State University (USA), the Oxford Brookes University (UK), Newcastle University (UK), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nankai University, China Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Sichuan University as well as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu university of traditional Chinese medicine and other domestic and international famous universities respectively. With an average employment rate of more than 95%, graduates of the School are employed by major hospitals, research institutes, well-known pharmaceutical enterprises and other enterprises and public institutions, and the training effect has been recognized and highly praised by the society.
